Why You Should Hire an Introverted Real Estate Agent

When you think of a real estate agent, I bet you picture either a bubbly chatterbox woman or man with a very go-getter attitude. Both, of course, make fantastic agents, but is it possible for an introvert to be a successful real estate agent? As an introvert myself, my answer is a resounding, “YES!” In fact, I have learned over the years that my introverted qualities are many times what gives me the upper hand in certain situations and makes me stand out from the crowd.

In this extroverted world we live in, introverts tend to be misunderstood as shy and antisocial, but that isn’t an accurate description. We love people and actually tend to have better quality relationships with others than our extroverted counterparts, we just need to have some alone time to recharge and process information after a lot of socializing. We absolutely can be bubbly chatterboxes and go-getters in the right setting. So, what are the benefits of hiring an introverted agent to assist you with your real estate transaction?

Here are my top 5 reasons:

We listen to understand, not to respond. Extroverts love a good conversation, but often they hear more to be able to chime in to the conversation and don’t always listen to all the information being presented. Introverts are often slower to respond, and it is not because we don’t know what we are doing, but we are actually processing the conversation and listening to all of the information. If we need to take some time to answer a question, it is because we want to make sure you are getting the exact information you need instead of spewing words in conversation. We also tend to listen to all of our clients’ needs and wants better than our extroverted colleagues, ultimately making our clients feel heard and understood.

We make excellent researchers. Given the fact that introverts like to take their time to absorb their surroundings, it should be no surprise that we are great at doing research. This could be things like completing a thorough Comparable Market Analysis on your home, finding the perfect vendor for your repair needs, or figuring out what is going on with those new apartments being built across the street. We don’t pretend to know information that we don’t know, but are sure to do all the necessary research on your question or situation before offering a solid solution.

Introverts excel at digital marketing. You wouldn’t catch an introvert dead cold-calling or door knocking like agents did before technology took over, but thankfully most people nowadays don’t appreciate those tactics. I personally would rather gouge my left eye out than call a random, unsuspecting victim with a sales pitch. You can, however, find us introverts happily sitting at our computers, adding gorgeous, creative photos and videos of your home to our social media channels and creating fantastic brochures for showings and open houses. With our stellar research skills and constant over-analyzing, we are also generally able to keep up with what is working in marketing right now and what is not.

Introverts value fewer quality relationships over a large quantity of relationships. We tend to have deeper, more meaningful conversations other than small talk, which makes us excellent advisors and counselors throughout your transaction. When you have made your way into an introvert’s circle, we are loyal and you have a friend and confidant for life.

We have more time to dedicate to YOU! Since introverts require alone time for our sanity, you will not be competing with our over-scheduled social life for the service you deserve. Also, many introverts prefer to work with fewer clients at a time so that we can fully dedicate our time to a few, rather than be strained and stressed trying to help too many clients.

Of course, there are so many amazing agents out there who truly care and want to be of service to their clients. Ultimately, find that person who you connect with and feel like you can work with throughout this entire real estate process-the good and the bad. It takes all types and there is someone for everyone!
